I got a message earlier today on LINE reminding me of Super Junior’s comeback. Just a few days more to go.
That message also told me that they’ve just released the first Teaser Video of Black Suit‘s MV. When that message came, I was out with friends, I couldn’t wait to watch it. Now fast forward to (an agonizing) 12 hours later, I finally get to see it.
Looking at the video, I cannot help but think how mature they’ve grown after their respective military services. It’s often said by several artists in the past that military service brings a change in them. Maybe it’s just probably me, but somehow, there is something more manly in the way they project themselves now.
There must be some story in the MV as each member is assigned a persona (the Security, the Appraiser, the Transporter, the Millionaire, the Client Representative, the Decoy and the host). I’m guessing it has something to do with transporting the all important Black suit somewhere – I mean there’s a decoy (Oh ye Hollywood, you’re making my imagination work!). Just a thought though – I’d wish Yesung’s Transporter had Jason Statham vibe. Yep, I’ve definitely been watching too many action movies!
There will be 2 more teasers released tomorrow and on the 3rd. And on November 6 (Suju’s anniversary) their 8th album will be released.
It’s a pity though that Siwon will not be able to participate during broadcast promotions (SM released a statement yesterday about this). As my bias, I was anticipating him being on music shows. It was sad to only have 7 of them participate in the album, now it makes me sadder that Siwon won’t be performing. But although he will not be in the broadcasts, we can still catch him in his new drama Revolutionary Love.
It must be hard on the rest of the members. But I know they’re see it through
Now it’s up to us ELFs to show them our undying support!

It’s the perfect time to be for my Asian madness to come back! Perfect because my boys are making their comeback!!!!
I’ve been watching them on VLive for some time and I have been highly anticipating Super Junior’s 슈퍼주니어new releases. Although it has been decided that their title track will be “Black Suit” (it was also my favorite among all those samples they’ve reviewed), they’ve release an MV ballad비처럼 가지마요 (One More Chance).
I know Super Junior is mostly known for their dance tracks but I’m so much pleased that they’ve released a ballad first! In one of their VLives Heechul was convincing them to release a ballad – just like what Sechskies did. And I totally agree with him. This ballad shows the mature side of Super Junior. It’s high time that they release something like this – it’s time to tell the world that it’s not only Super Junior KRY who does the ballads!
Although it’s kind of sad that there will only be 7 members who will be making the comeback this time – it’s better than them not releasing at all. On the brighter side of things, having only 7 members participate in the comeback mean they get to showcase more of their singing chaps. I’m especially thrilled in that this song has Shindong singing lines – not just the adlibs (like he did for Bonamana). With the absences for Ryeowook and Kyuhyun (since both are in the army), Donghae, Siwon, Heechul and Leeteuk have longer parts. But it must be a burden for Yesung. I just wish Eunhyuk sang – but there has to be a rapper so that’s fine.

Also, once you claim yourself to belong to a certain FANDOM, you will find yourself being pulled back no matter how hard you tried to shake it off because you were “adulting”. This is basically – in a gist – my love affair with Super Junior.
I did not start out to be a Super Junior fan. The first time I was hooked to Kpop was because of DBSK – and it was during their Mirotic days back in 2008. Also, I was hooked to Jpop then (oh Arashi!). And since DBSK was heavy on doing Japanese promotions, I kind of liked them immediately. Their sound had a Jpop influence (at least to my ears). Fandom at this moment was still at it’s early stages – but I never really considered myself as Cassiopeia (in case your wondering, that’s what DBSK fans call themselves).
I had a friend who was studying in China in December 2008. While Skyping her one day, she convinced (more like forced) me to watch a show of a group called Super Junior. She knew I was interested in Kpop and she wanted to introduce me to the craziness of the group.

The Show? Explorers of the Human Body (인체탐험대)
Truth be told, I was a bit indifferent at the time, also because I just discovered a little group called Big Bang and I had Haru Haru and Majimak Insa on repeat. Also, when I asked how many members the group had, I wasn’t prepared for the answer she gave me – 13! I faintly recall telling her that it was ridiculous – I couldn’t even distinguish 5 boys in a band – but 13?? How long would their parts be?
But since my friend can be very persuasive (she works in Sales!), I watched an episode. And one episode turned into 2 and then 3 and then I finished all of them. And since I rather enjoyed the craziness of these 13 boys, I looked for more of their videos and then their songs. (There was a site called super-legacy.com that fed this addiction but I guess it doesn’t exist anymore). I was hooked!!! And then in March 2009 they released Sorry Sorry – I was more than addicted! I couldn’t stop the fandom – I (un)officially considered myself as an ELF.
To me Super Junior was the funniest, most talented (I mean 13 boys, each bringing something to the table) and most real Kpop group at the time. They didn’t seem as untouchable as other groups. Their hardships were very those one that can relate to (Kyu’s and Teukie’s accident) and they were one of the most hard working groups. Who wouldn’t love them? (Yes, this is my bias talking).
But who could write about their love for Super Junior and not talk aboutELF (Everlasting Friend)! Oh my Sapphire Blue friends 🙂
I started this blog in 2009 – pretty much when blogging wasn’t a popular as it is now. I posted a lot and did not really care what I posted – so long as I think it was interesting. One time, I saw a post on a forum a frequent about It’s You leak. Because I wanted to be one of the first to tell the world about it, I posted it on my blog. No more than 2 hours after I published the post, I received comments from ELFs telling me to take down the post. (Don’t believe me, this was a post I wrote after deleting the leak).
I was pretty freaked out by the incident. Didn’t really occur to me that someone would be monitoring my blog posts. But then it dawned on me – that only shows how much love and respect ELF has for Super Junior. They were willing to protect their oppas whatever means they can. From that day, ELF has earned my respect and I can say I’m proud to be one!
If you haven’t read on my post already, it has been 4 years since I swore off anything Kpop / Kdrama. The last Super Junior song I remember was Sexy, Free and Single. I was adulting. I missed out on a lot of their songs – or during the time when my boys went to the army and came back out. But this year, I sure am very excited for their comeback in November. My love for these boys are eternal. I’m ready to be an Elf again!
And like Lola Carat – I shouldn’t be afraid to admit it because Fandom has now age limit! I’m Tiny and I’m in 32 – and will always will be proud to be called an ELF!

It’s been a long time since I started being a Kpop fan and since I’ve been an ELF.
Last night as I was cleaning some files, I opened files from 6 years ago that I haven’t seen in ages. It’s some pictures of Super Junior. Some were even before Sorry, Sorry — back when having long hair was popular. I can’t believe how much they have changed!

Finally the video for Spy by Super Juniorhas been released.. I know I posted the live performance before, but like I said I will posting my comment about this entry.
The Video
It’s once again another basic video that SM has been doing a lot of times now! The boys dancing in a room. Except for some parts where there’s a girl doing a sexy wave. It’s not that I am complaining but it’s getting a bit boring.. It’s just the same video concept. Them dancing in a room — they’ve used it over and over again.. the only thing that changes is the dance and the background! I’d love to see them do a video like they did with It’s You and No Other! And come on, there are lots of concepts you can play with with the them of the song.. You know James Bond right.. maybe you could have incorporated that in the concept. There were some hints of 007 concepts but they only used the common ones! They could have made more! Whoever is doing those concepts for the videos should use more of their imagination.. please do better!!!
Anyway, do like their clothes in this video. Apart from all of them looking good in suits, it fits the 007 persona which I assume they are having for this song. The best thing about the video is the dance! I love how simple it is (except the part where Donghae jumps) — but the choreography is quite elaborate, like where they are staying. It made video this video a pleasant experience 🙂
I know some people might bash me.. but it was funny to see Leeteuk’s hair! Hahaha.. it reminds me of 90’s boybands both American/European and Korean. Sorry but he does not look handsome with that hair. I know he makes fun of that kind of hairstyle during broadcasts, but to use it in a video will make someone say: What the heck were they thinking!!
The Song
The song has a lot of elements to it. When it started, it reminds me of a 90s disco song (Venga Boys style anyone?). I thought it would follow that but it changed with a sample of the James Bond theme. And then the verses were sung with an auto-tuned low pitch key. A little confusing! But thank god it’s not as funky as their previous style.. but just a little bit confusing! Do I like it? The sample for the James Bond theme is nice.. the disco-ish tune was ok.. but the auto-tuning NOOOO!!! Why oh why did they autotune Kyuhyun and Ryeowook — bad idea! They are like the one of the best voices in SJ and you auto-tune them! That’s a crime! What were they thinking! Also, Kangin and Donghae can sin’g.. why did you auto-tune them too! urgh!
I did enjoy this song, but at the moment of writing its a bit confusing for me. But I got you little runaway” is pretty catchy. And for not sounding too much like their old songs, I’d give props to this. But for the moment I could not decide if this is better that Sexy, Free and Single.
Which one do you think is better?
Final Verdict: I still can’t decide if this is better than Sexy, Free and Single but thank god it’s a bit different. Nothing new with the video but loved the dance!
I haven’t posted anything aboutSuper Junior in a long time.. I haven’t really been updating with them as much as I like.
But last Thursday they performedSpy on Mnet.
Actually the music video has not been released yet as of writing this entry. And my question is why???
I would have wanted to see it first before I see them perform on stage. The teaser has been released but from the looks of it, I think it would be the same concept where it will feature the boys dancing. Honestly, it’s getting a bit boring! I miss music videos with concepts. Why can’t they make one like Boa’s Only One??
Anyway, I do like this song.. but I will reserve my comments in another post when the music video will come out!

It’s Super Junior hosting SNL Korea!
I haven’t seen an SNL Korea episode, but we know I’ve seen a lot of the American SNLs (one of my favorite shows!) so I pretty much understand how the show works. Now the boys are hosting the show and doing the skits themselves!
It’s been a long time for them to so shows like this. Actually, I couldn’t recall them doing variety like this. Though the closes may have been those parodies but not to this format. Did they pull it off.. I think so, I enjoyed it, but I couldn’t say it isn’t because I’m a suju fan — so that view might be tilted a bit *wink wink.
What was the best part? The opening! Watch it to know… I had to do a double take.. but not giving any more spoilers!!
I am totally swamped with making midterms for my students! (It’s midterms in Thailand) I can’t promise to post a lot of stuff this month!
But though I have to make exams, that does not mean I didn’t watch any of the comeback performances my favorite boys, Super Junior, did. I managed to watch, but just a little late.
But I think the Ingkigayo Comeback special was the best one!
Clap clap clap. Whoever does the editing/directing of the show should receive a pat on the back! I love the angles and how they capture the performance. Although it’s not focused to one angle but the editing/directing (btw, is that what you call it? sorry, i’m not well versed in tv production) was done in a way you will not receive a headache and you’re seeing every aspect of the dance! You also see a little close up of the boys. And the best was when they had a close up of Eunhyuk’s dance in the second verse. Clap clap clap!
Hope I can see more of their performance. Oh why do the exams have to be this month.. 😦
So yesterday, we did not seeSuper Juniorperforming on Music Bank because they showed Music Bank live in Hong Kong. That means, the boys are going to have their come back on Music Bank next week.
But today, they did make their comeback on Music Core singing From U (너로부터) and Sexy, Free and Single.

I love that they are singing the whole of From U. In the past, they would only sing about less than 2 minutes of the other promotional songs. I think this is their thank you to the ELFs in the world. And we love it! I love them boys!!!
I’m totally loving this album and their comeback. I feel happy when I sing Kangin dancce! Now I want to see more of him on variety shows! I’m also keeping an eye on this comeback as after promotions for this album, Leeteuk will be enlisting. A report said he was worried that his popularity will wane when he enlists. Don’t worry dear leader, ELFs got your back! You will always be popular to us!
When are they going to start appearing on variety shows?? I can’t wait!
Hurrah! My boys (Super Junior) have started their promotions forheir new album Sexy, Free and Single. And they started it with their performance of From U and Sexy, Free and Single on Mnet.
I’m sure all the ELFs already know that From U is the song that was made for the ELFs as a thank you. They rocked their performance, I kind of like how KRY was at the back singing the song while the 5 best dancers of Suju were up front dancing. White and black contrast – me likey! Though, it would have been better if Siwon and Kangin were there… it’s weird because only 8 of them were performing.
Sexy, Free and Single I’m ready too bingo — for an English speaker, it makes no sense! but what the heck I am a fan, so I’ll turn a blind eye on the lyrics.. But really SMent/SMtown, I think it’s time for you to invest in good English instructors and lyricist. Though the song is good, but it makes no sense and for someone who doesn’t understand Korean, they’d be laughing at these lyrics. They should invest now because Super Junior is promoting not only in Korea but world wide.. Though ELFs won’t mind, critics do! We don’t want them bashing on the Engrish of the song!
I was really happy to see Kangin performing, though I think he deserves more close ups next time. Wish he had more parts though. But it’s nice to see my boys.
Oh and just a comment on the whole album, I kind of like it, though it comes after Sorry, Sorry. I still think 3jib was the best that they have. This would be my second best. I like that it’s not all dance and electronic autotuned songs. My favorite would have to be th track 10 A “Good” bye and From U. The nice thing I think is that they also had ballad tracks in the song where the members sang, not just KRY. This album is definitely better than Mr. Simple (sorry, I really did not like that album, thus the lack of posts on the blog during that promotion period!).
Will be watching out for them on the music broadcast! And I can’t wait to see them on variety shows.. Speaking of variety, I think we need more of Leeteuk before he enlists for the army!
