Xin Nian Kuai Le! Well actually that greeting came a bit late! Haha.. but I still wanted to say it! Happy Seollal!
I have been so excited for the past few weeks when I read that the original F4 (Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu) were reuniting for a show for Chinese New Year.
I knew that the show was pre-recorded and I have seen some fancams already but I actually waited for the video of the broadcast to be available before making this post. And today, I finally found a video!
Meteor Rain 流星雨
First Time 第一时间
I am not sure if a lot of the new Asian fans would recognize them, but to me they were the reason why I succumbed to the Asian invasion. Before them, I only knew of boy bands who were from Europe or North America. Didn’t really cared that much about Asian boys. Until there was F4!!!
I could still remember how crazy I was over them. Not only me, this craziness swept the Philippines and it opened doors to having more Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean dramas being show in the country. But they were always the first. They were the original Flower Boys! Before everyone knew Go Jun Pyo, everyone was talking about Dao Ming Si! Before Boys Over Flowers (Korean) and Hana Yori Dango (Japanese) there was Meteor Garden.
Now, as I see them together again, I can’t help grinning from ear to ear! OMG!! I know they have become mature now (I don’t want to use old!!), but it doesn’t stop me from liking them still. I have honestly waited for this reunion to happen. I have read that they have wanted to have one for the last 3 years but because of their schedules, they couldn’t do it. But this year they did and thank heavens they did! And goodness me, they are still so handsome! Zai zai ai ni! (pardon this crazy fan!).
This really really made my day! Wish they would do something like this again!
Note: I have to say thanks to koalasplayground.com for posting this. My Chinese is not as good as my Korean so I couldn’t find the videos. To see the original post, please click here.

It’s an old Wang Lee Hom song released in 2010.. It’s 2012 and I’m just posting this now! kk
Actually I just finished watching his movie Love in Disguise, which he wrote, directed and starred in — and he also composed and sang the theme song. What can’t Wang Lee Hom do? 🙂 Not that I am complaining kk 🙂
I honestly did not know about this movie or about this song up until today. Yes, I know who Lee Hom is, but in 2010 I was pretty much adored Fei Lun Hai and Wilber Pan to notice him. Ergo, I’ve never seen this movie — only today. It’s not really a favorite of mine maybe because at this point it has become a common plot (see this is what happens when you watch too much dramas!). But I really do like the music of the movie especially the theme song All The Things You Never Knew (你不知道的事).
I like the lyrics of the song! See this is what I like about Wang Lee Hom’s songs — the meaningful lyrics. It’s a slow ballad and in the video we sing him play the piano. Is it just me or he looks gorgeous playing that! kk fan girl alert! Anyway.. though this has been release awhile back, it’s still a very nice song!
Lyrics anyone?

All The Things You Never Knew (Translation)
How many times does a butterfly blink
Before it learns to fly?
The sky is sprinkled over with countless stars
But how many there will remain?
Even as I fly, you fall
So close I can hear you breathe
So sorry I didn’t keep hold of you
You don’t know why I had to leave you
How could I ignore your every cry
All the while the downpour of your tears shattering the ground
So clearly pierced my heart
You don’t know why I had to keep away
Circling in the sky above, just out of sight
So many are the things you never knew
How many times does a butterfly blink
Before it learns to fly?
The sky is sprinkled over with countless stars
But how many there will remain?
Even as I fly, you fall
So close I can hear you breathe
So sorry I didn’t keep hold of you
You don’t know why I had to leave you
How could I ignore your every cry
All the while the downpour of your tears shattering the ground
So clearly pierced my heart
You don’t know why I had to keep away
Circling in the sky above, just out of sight
So many are the things you never knew
Even as I fly, you fall
Oh Oh
You don’t know why I had to leave you
How could I ignore your every cry
All the while the downpour of your tears shattering the ground
So clearly pierced my heart
You don’t know why I had to keep away
Circling in the sky above, just out of sight
So many are the things you never knew
It’s a song from an English indie rock group called Transition called Dui Bu Qi.
From the english translation of the song, its talking about someone saying sorry because his Chinese is not good. This is a fun song and I am sure a lot can relate to this especially when you are trying to learn another language. I know I can (though the language I am learning is not Chinese, but it gives you the same feeling nonetheless).
A friend of mine actually shared this to me. When I first saw it I was laughing because that’s what I feel nowadays! So I wanted to share it. Its a very simple song with a simple melody and very easy to sing a long to! It hits the spot. According to their wiki profile, the guys have a large fan base in Asia and they like Taiwan. Maybe they may have had that experience while staying in Taiwan.
OMG! Wang Lee Hom + Wong Fu Productions!! Can it get any better than this?
I know it has been about a week since the video has been released but I still can’t get over it!
This is the video of Still In Love With You by Wang Lee Hom.
I have been a certified Wong Fu Production addict since I was in college (and let’s just say that about a few years back). I mean ever since I saw them doing the I’m Yours video for their friend’s wedding I’ve been hooked and I’ve never stopped watching their videos, even if its just a Vlog. There is just something about Wes, Phil and Ted! I sometimes wish I live in the States to see ISA! sigh… but anyway, their youtube videos always make me feel happy and sometimes sad.
Now Wang Lee Hom on the other hand is not only.. ahem.. handsome but he is such a talented person! I mean is there anything this man can’t do! He sings (oh yes he has a very nice voice and he is very popular in Taiwan and to those who listen to Mandopop).. He acts (Lust Caution and Little Big Soldier).. He plays musical instruments (violin, guitar, drums).. He even conducted an orchestra one time (believe me! they even documented that on CNN).. I can describe him in two words.. amazingly talented!
Now if you put them together you get an amazing MV. This is probably one of the best Mandopop MVs that I have seen. The concept is simple but the execution was fresh and its something you have never seen done. I love how they used the electronic calendar and the montages of the pictures on the calendar — telling the story of finding love then losing it and then finding it again. This is what I love about Wong Fu the most because they can make something so simple be something so extraordinary. And to think they only had limited time (very limited, I think it was one day or two days) to shoot it! Oh how adore thy talent!
I actually kind of miss Wang Lee Hom making this kind of music, so I am very very happy about this song. And of course his voice is so good.. again what can this guy not do (sorry I put too much emphasis as if he were a god or something, but give him a break the guy’s too talented)!! And did I mention how handsome he is? wahaha ok I have to stop being a fan girl. Though the song sounds a bit like a faster version of Tong Hua. Does anybody feel that way
I am just sooo elated about this collaboration! Kudos to Wong Fu Productions and Wang Lee Hom!
Before I became a fan of Kpop, I pretty much started with Chinese (Mandarin) songs. That was because I watched a lot of Taiwanese dramas. Blame it on Meteor Garden! That drama started my asian addiction.
One of the dramas I watched before was called Love Contract that starred Ariel Lin and Mike He. There was a song from the OST that really liked called Lonely Northern Hemisphere. It was sung by Ariel Lin. But little did I know that it was a cover!! Thanks to one of my Taiwanese friends. The original singer is Ocean Ou De Yang.
This is the song.
Apparently, Ocean Ou started out as a singer who used images for his videos and never showed his face at first. He only did so when he had a concert. But his songs are a hit in Taiwan. And this song has become a favorite of mine. Though I like Ariel Lin’s version, I like the original better. If you listen to both, there is a slight difference in the lyrics. His voice is sweet and relaxing and that’s why I like it better.
This is Ariel Lin‘s version… thumbs up for Mike He being in the video!!
Anyway, I am posting the lyrics and translation for Ocean Ou’s version. For Ariel Lin’s version, there are a lot available online so it would not be too hard to search. Enjoy singing

Lonely Northern Hemisphere (Translation)
Use your morning to accompany me to eat dinner
Remember to put feelings of longing into the piggy bank
I am looking at the shining stars all over the sky
Listen to Niu Lang tell Zhi Nu that she must be brave
Not scared that we are in different parts of Earth
Watch your greetings sit on a magic carpet
As it flies to me at the speed of light
You allow me to see the North Star become a companion of the Cross Star
I still have not gotten used to having your arm as my pillow
Your telescope cannot capture the loneliness of my northern hemisphere
The Pacific Ocean’s tide whirl along with Earth’s rotation
I will patiently wait, wait until the day you approach shore
I still have not gotten used to having your bosom as my warming stove
In the picture I e-mailed you, the loneliness of my northern hemisphere cannot be seen
No matter how big the world is, our sincerity will keep each other warm
My feelings of longing will not slack off; all of my dreams have been stored for you
Not scared that we are in different parts of Earth
Watch your greetings sit on a magic carpet
As it flies to me at the speed of light
You allow me to see the North Star become a companion of the Cross Star
I still have not gotten used to having your arm as my pillow
Your telescope cannot capture the loneliness of my northern hemisphere
The Pacific Ocean’s tide whirl along with Earth’s rotation
I will patiently wait, wait until the day you approach shore
I still have not gotten used to having your bosom as my warming stove

I was looking for a Chinese song to post on my blog, when I remembered this song… It’s called Tong Hua (童話) / Fairytale by Wang Guang Liang王光良.
I heard this before, when the 2 Chinese boys did their own version of the song. But back then, it wasn’t one of my favorites, as I preferred their rendition of Wilber Pan’s Bu De Bu Ai. But I loved this song, when a friend of mine reintroduced it to me. She learned how to sing the song when she was in Shanghai learning Mandarin.
It’s a sad song, but I think it’s quite a popular song in the Mandopop industry. Also, according to my friend, it’s a song that is very easy to learn as the characters are very easy — well this would apply if you are learning Mandarin. Though it’s a slow song, I like the way the piano is being played, and though you do not understand it you know by the tune that it’s sad.. and the video is sad too!
Here’s the lyrics of the song…
Tong Hua (Fairytale) Pinyin
wang le you duo jiu zai mei ting dao ni

wo xiang le hen jiu wo kai shi huang le

Tong Hua (Fairytale) Translation
I forget how long it’s been since I last heard you
tell me your favorite story
I’ve thought about it for a long time, I start to get confused
Have I done something wrong again?
Crying, you told me that all fairytales were lies
I can’t possibly be your prince
Maybe you won’t understand that after you told me that you loved me
all the stars lit up in the sky
I am willing to be that angel that you loved most in the fairytales
My open arms turning into wings to protect you
You have to believe, believe that we will be like those inside a fairytale
where it is a happy ending
Wee… another Wilber Pan video!!! ahahaha and this time it features my favorite Thai prince, Nichkhun! kk
This is called Touch.
This sounds so much like a Kpop song! But because I have a bias for Nichkhun, I’m totally enjoying it!!! Nichkhun doesn’t sing or rap on the song but he is just featured in the MV.
If you ask me who to choose among them… that would be an extremely difficult question!!! ^_^
Earlier today I watched Green Hornet on IMAX!!! And I have to say this is really Jay Chou‘s movie!!!
I’m a big fan of the TV series. I used to watch it when I was in elementary school. Our classes were in the afternoon, and on Wednesdays, it would be shown on TV. However, the film adaptation isn’t the same as the one i saw on TV. The Green Hornet didn’t do any butt kicking (pardon the word), instead it was all Kato who was doing it. But I think it’s a good thing that happened, for this is Jay Chou’s big break in HOLLYWOOD!!! And this movie screamed Kato all throughout!!! Go Kato!!!
Jay Chou is not new to movies, in fact he acted and even directed movies like Secret. This is probably my favorite Jay Chou movie! Oh and this is the one he directed. And mind you, this is his other job.. the other being a singer song-writer. He composes and writes most of the songs in his albums! This is guy is a genius!!!
Not long ago, I posted a video of his song Dao Xiang (Fragrance of Rice). That remains to be my favorite Jay Chou song. But today, I had to look for one that sounds pretty good, and one you could appreciate even without understanding it. And I decided on Back to the Past.
This is a bit of an old song, and as you see on the video, Jay looks a bit different from the way he looks now. But remember, this song was released in 2002 — so of course he looks different! This song was composed by himself, though the words was done by someone else. It’s a nice song… and it reminds me of the taiwanese songs from 5 years ago.. most of it sounds like this. Don’t get me wrong, I first fell in love with Mandarin songs before I did Kpop and Jpop.
I think Jay looks better now, compared to before. He was skinny. But at that time skinny guys and long haired guys were the trend. The actress in the video looks familiar.. just couldn’t place her.. if you knew then leave a comment to enlighten me ^_^
Hope we can see more of him on the Hollywood scene!
Fan girl screaming right now!! I’ve been a fan since I heard Bu De Bu Ai..
About the song.. when i heard the verses it kinda sounded like Seven’s Better Together. But in the middle parts of the song, it sounds different. The beat is nice though. And the concept in the video is totally different from his past MV. I like it! Fan girl screams again! kk
Just a comment though, I know he has long been criticized by a lot of Kpop fans that he copies Kpop music (plagiarized even). Bu De Bu Ai was even one of them. But don’t you think he would be facing charges by now if he did not acquire the rights to these songs?? Just a thought ^_^
