Greeting Unnies! As you can see your unnies are on a roll with all the new posts on the site.
(Yes, we are trying to bring this blog back to life and we have Hana Jesse-yo unnie to thank for that!)
The post this time is about Exo D.O‘s new song Rose from his first mini album 공감 (Empathy).
To be honest I am not really an EXO fan – though I like some of their songs like Growl and Ko Ko Bop. However, I’ve been a D.O fan since I saw him in the drama It’s Ok, That’s Love (which starred Jo In-sung, Gong Hyo-jin). I think he’s a really good actor as well as a funny person (which I think all Exo-Ls will agree that he is the funniest EXO member!) Also, I am more drawn to his voice (sorry Chen and Baekhyun).
So he just dropped a new mini-album and the featured song is called Rose. But what caught my eye for this songs is that and it came with a Korean and an English version.

What do I think about it?
I haven’t posted songs on this blog for some time now – except for the backtracks songs. But I like the vibe of this song so I decided to have some sort of a keepsake post for me. I might feel a little bit nostalgic about this song especially with the acoustic guitars being prominent background for the song. It reminds me of songs by Jason Mraz or artists like David Choi and AJ Rafael. It reminds me so much of AJ Rafael’s We Could Happen. Gosh I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since that song’s MV was released. Oh yes dear reader, I’m a certified unnie!
Although the Korean versions has it’s own merit, but I am more drawn to the English version because (1) I speak English and I can understand it and (2) the music seems to be made originally with English lyrics – based on the song’s beats and how the melody fits the lyrics. I am of course assuming this because a little google search told me that the this was composed by Swedish / Finnish composers. I even saw someone commented that it sounds like a Eurovision song (wink wink). So this song is definitely a treat for all Kpop fans who do not speak the language. Also, you have to give props to D.O.’s English version because he nails the pronunciation and enunciation. I would not have thought I was listening to a Korean.
My only complaint about this song: It’s too short hahaha 🙂 but that’s not really important right! Lol

And because as I said, this post is a keepsake, I’m posting the ENGLISH lyrics. (not the translation)
Rose – D.O. English Version (Lyrics)
I see you driving your car down to school
Your lips are so fine and you’re looking so cool
I know you’ve noticed me too
And if I’ll be honest with you now
Maybe I’m thinking maybe
If you need a lover
Let me know and let me in
I could treat you better
Steal you roses every day
I might not have a fancy car
But I fancy you
So gimme a chance
If you need a lover baby
They look at me when I’m looking at you
I don’t give a damn cause it’s all I can do
Please don’t go breaking my heart
Tell me you’re aching for me now
Baby baby
If you need a lover
Let me know and let me in
I could treat you better
Steal you roses every day
I might not have a fancy car
But I fancy you
So gimme a chance
If you need a lover baby
Any flowers ain’t your pain
I got so much love to give you babe
As long as you feel the same way
You know we can do whatever you want
You just need to either let me come inside
Or leave me standing in the rain
If you need a lover
Let me know and let me in
I could treat you better
Steal you roses every day
I might not have a fancy car
But I fancy you
So gimme a chance
If you need a lover baby
Enjoy singing and relaxing to this song!
