The Boys – So Nyeo Shi Dae (Korean and English versions)

For all the SONES, I know they have been waiting quite sometime for their idols to make a come back.. And they just did with their new song The Boys.. and it’s released in both English and Korean versions!

Korean Version

English Version

Hmmm… I can’t say that I like the song so much. Though it’s a pretty good track and definitely different from what they have done in the past, I think this sounded like a cheerleading song. Yes the verses sounded really good but I’m not digging the chorus too much. It’s like me singing “I said burn it’s cold in here it must be Toros in the atmosphere”.. oops Bring it on nostalgia..  But I do say I like the way they say bring the boys out!

But hooray for their effort of making the English version of this song, that means their spreading their wings and trying a new market. The English version of the song, their English that is, is understandable, except maybe for a few awkward words, but you can make out what they were singing!

As for the video, well the first part, the song they used is just like a recycle of the Keep Your Head Down intro, except for minor changes. I mean it’s not the girls fault, but the record company could have done something special for them. It did suit their concept of the video, but its been used before, and it hasn’t been a year since that tune was used, so why use it again??

But but but.. I love their concept for this song. It’s definitely a bolder and sexier Girl’s Generation. I mean we’ve seen them sexy before, but this concept gives off a very strong aura of the girls. I love their outfits. It had a theme but it’s outfit was had its own identity. I love their new dance, it’s not cutesy at all. I’m glad they realize that they should reinvent themselves and give a stronger image.. It’s new but absolutely perfect for the girls who are no longer in their teens. Oh and the best transformation goes to Sunny! She’s shed off that cute image! I love the way they did her hair! It’s short! Yehey!! And boy does she look good. I had to do a double take just to make sure it was her. Kudos to her for being so brave in her new do!

But I’m hoping this release would be a good one for them! Though I think they would not have any problem with all the Sones from all over the worls supporting them!!!

Dui Bu Qi 對不起我的中文不好 – Transition 前進樂團

A friend of mine shared this to me.

It’s a song from an English indie rock group called Transition called Dui Bu Qi.

From the english translation of the song, its talking about someone saying sorry because his Chinese is not good. This is a fun song and I am sure a lot can relate to this especially when you are trying to learn another language. I know I can (though the language I am learning is not Chinese, but it gives you the same feeling nonetheless).

A friend of mine actually shared this to me. When I first saw it I was laughing because that’s what I feel nowadays! So I wanted to share it. Its a very simple song with a simple melody and very easy to sing a long to! It hits the spot. According to their wiki profile, the guys have a large fan base in Asia and they like Taiwan. Maybe they may have had that experience while staying in Taiwan.

This is a fun fun fun song!

Still In Love With You 依然愛你 – Wang Lee Hom 王力宏

OMG! Wang Lee Hom + Wong Fu Productions!! Can it get any better than this?

I know it has been about a week  since the video has been released but I still can’t get over it!

This is the video of Still In Love With You by Wang Lee Hom.

I have been a certified Wong Fu Production addict since I was in college (and let’s just say that about a few years back). I mean ever since I saw them doing the I’m Yours video for their friend’s wedding I’ve been hooked and I’ve never stopped watching their videos, even if its just a Vlog. There is just something about Wes, Phil and Ted! I sometimes wish I live in the States to see ISA! sigh… but anyway, their youtube videos always make me feel happy and sometimes sad.

Now Wang Lee Hom on the other hand is not only.. ahem.. handsome but he is such a talented person! I mean is there anything this man can’t do! He sings (oh yes he has a very nice voice and he is very popular in Taiwan and to those who listen to Mandopop).. He acts (Lust Caution and Little Big Soldier).. He plays musical instruments (violin, guitar, drums).. He even conducted an orchestra one time (believe me! they even documented that on CNN).. I can describe him in two words.. amazingly talented!

Now if you put them together you get an amazing MV. This is probably one of the best Mandopop MVs that I have seen. The concept is simple but the execution was fresh and its something you have never seen done. I love how they used the electronic calendar and the montages of the pictures on the calendar — telling the story of finding love then losing it and then finding it again. This is what I love about Wong Fu the most because they can make something so simple be something so extraordinary. And to think they only had limited time (very limited, I think it was one day or two days) to shoot it! Oh how adore thy talent!

I actually kind of miss Wang Lee Hom making this kind of music, so I am very very happy about this song. And of course his voice is so good.. again what can this guy not do (sorry I put too much emphasis as if he were a god or something, but give him a break the guy’s too talented)!! And did I mention how handsome he is? wahaha ok I have to stop being a fan girl. Though the song sounds a bit like a faster version of Tong Hua. Does anybody feel that way

I am just sooo elated about this collaboration! Kudos to Wong Fu Productions and Wang Lee Hom!

Cry Cry Cry – Palmy (MV and lyrics)

I found another Thai song that I really like. I heard it first on the radio while driving with my cousin. And I can’t seem to get over this song! It’s Cry Cry Cry by Palmy.

I am being told that Palmy is probably one of the best and most successful singers in Thailand. And after hearing this song and listening to her other songs, I have to say her music is good! Good for me at least. I’m a certified fan now. Though I’m still a bit frustrated because I don’t know the meaning of the song… (edit: i do know the meaning of the song now!!! see below.. many thanks to deungdutjai@wordpress for the translations and romanizing it!!)

Anyhow, the reason why I fell in love with this song was because it sounded soooo good! I mean I think its a sad song as the tune denotes (as well as the video), but I’m a sucker for songs like this. The song sounded like a European track, I couldn’t even tell at first that it was Thai. But when I listned carefully it was in Thai. It’s a refreshing track from all the pop ones I am listening to most of the time. I’m developing a likeness to Thai pop music!

I think it would be nice to see it as the next big thing to Kpop and Jpop 🙂

edit: this is the lyrics of the song with its romanization and english translation:

Cry Cry Cry – Palmy

มองฟ้า เมฆครึ้มสีหม่น
Maung fah mek kreum see mon
Looking at the sky, it’s cloudy and a melancholy color
รักที่ร่วงหล่น กับฝนที่ประปราย
Ruk tee ruam lon gup fon tee pra prai
Love that falls with the sprinkling rain
คิดถึงวันเก่า สองเราเปียกปอน
Kit tueng wun gao saung rao piak paun
I miss the old days, the two of us soaked
Tahm glahng sai fon proy aun
In the middle of a late rainshower
Lae tur gup chun sumput gun
And you and I touching

Chuang welah tee meuan koey yoo nai fun
The times are as usual in the rain
Jaung maung doo sai fon prum leua yoo
Staring at the drizzling streaks left
กับวันที่สายไป นั่งมองดูฟ้าคิดถึงเธอ
Gup wunt ee sai pai nung maung doo fah kit teung tur
On a day too late, sitting looking at the sky and missing you

(*) ฉันก็จะเอาแต่ CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY
Chun gor ao dtae cry cry cry cry cry cry
I only want to cry cry cry, cry cry cry
ในวันที่ฝนโปรย เหม่อมองดูฟ้าร้องไห้
Nai wun tee fon proy mur maung doo fah raung hai
On a rainy day, absently watching the sky cry
ฉันก็จะเอาแต่ CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY CRY
Chun gor ao dtae cry cry cry cry cry cry
I only want to cry cry cry, cry cry cry
Nai wun tee fon prum keu wun tee chun mai mee tur eek dtor pai
On a rainy day, it’s the day that I won’t have you anymore

Dtae welah gor moon won yoo yahng nun
But the time passes on like that
Lae jai chun ngao leua gern took krao
And my heart is so lonely every moment
ที่มองดูฝนพรำ ยิ่งทำให้ฉันคิดถึงเธอ
Tee maung doo fon prum ying tum hai chun kit tueng tur
When watching the rain fall makes me miss you more

Random CNU (B1A4) Pictures…

I’m really digging this kid right now!! Kk I know I know.. so sue me if I am hi noona! kk

When B1A4 first debuted as a group, I immediately found my bias with CNU.. I don’t know why but I definitely think its the glasses that got me! To me he looks different from all the other boys in the Kpop industry now because he has a distinct look with his glasses. I’m not sure if it’s just a concept like 2AM’s Changmin in Confession of a Friend. Anyway, this kid looks good with glasses to the point that I couldn’t imagine him without it!

I decided to make this post because I have notices a lot of people have been frequenting my blog because of B1A4.. So I selected one of them (but I wanted to do Baro too.. just that I like CNU more..) and thn decided to look up some photos.. just to share a bit.. and here they are.. hope you like it! Oh how can this boy be too cute to handle! kk 🙂

Beautiful Target (Zoom Zoom Version) – B1A4

These boys are getting more and more popular.. and it hasn’t been a year even since they debuted. So this is off  B1A4 youtube channel, the new MV version of their song Beautiful Target.

I am not really sure what’s the difference between the two versions or why this is called the Zoom Zoom version (B1A4 fans please enlighten me). I thinks its the story part of the video and the dance sequences. But I actually liked this better than the first one. I have to admit though that this is more like a fan service video with their fans seeing more shots of the boys. Anyway, I think the song is pretty catchy! But I prefer Ok! compared to this one though. But but but.. there is one thing I really hope their producers would work out the next time.. Can they give the boys some English coaching please. I know I know, they are not native English speakers, but I know a lot of Koreans can speak English and are studying English for that matter. So I guess by now they know how to pronounce words properly or distinguish how to say Z or R. When I first heard this song I was like what’s joom joom? Is there are Korean word like that? My limited Korean knowledge told me NO.. and when I got online to google the lyrics.. its zoom zoom! OMG! I was like didn’t they have any language coaches? And the sad things is it gets repeated over and over throughout the song. And don’t forget the Locket.. umm isn’t that what we hang on our necks that has a picture of someone we love. I think their producers ought to do a better job at coaching the boys. I don’t think it’s their fault for not pronouncing the words properly, but if they had a coach it would have sounded better.

Oh Engrish…

But I still enjoyed the video and looking at them boys!! kk

Backtrack – Clazziquai Live Performances

These are really old (well not 10 years ago but more like 4 or 5 years ago, but in the Kpop world that’s really old already) performances by Clazziquai. I’m lucky to have found them on youtube!

Actually.. Clazziquai is one of my favorite groups in Kpop.. but I’m not sure if you could actually call their songs pop because it’s more on the electronic sound. I love this genre but I haven’t seen much of it in the Korean music industry.. just a handful of artists does this and most of them are either underrated or a playing their music underground.

Anyway these are a few of them..

Be My Love (060818) – English Version

If you’ve see My Name is Kim Sam Soon, you would know this song. This is played over and over again in the drama. And this song is what actually made Clazziquai popular in the mainstream Kpop world. This is the english version of the song. Yes, they do have several English versions of their song, which absolutely thrilled me during the start of my Kpop addiction. Though their English wasn’t that good, but its audible and understandable except for a few words.

Love Mode (070622)

I have to say this is my favorite Clazziquai song! I just love the electronic stuff DJ Clazzi did on this song. The original version has Tablo (of Epik High who is making his comeback soon! hooray!!) doing the rap.. in straight English! They do have a Japanese version of this one too where they sing the whole song in English while the rap is done in Japanese by M-Flo (you should hear his songs..). Love mode gets to me totally because of the Western/European sound which I love that this group is doing even before it became popular in Korea.. DJ Clazzi is a genius!

Romeo N Juliet (071228)

For one who watched We Got Married back when the variety program started, I’m sure you would know this song because it was what Shinae and Alex sung. This couple for me were too good to be true.. kk too sweet. But I think we got married that time was more believable compared to the We Got Married now. There was that certain sweetness that seemed surreal among the couples back them. I think maybe they were better actors! kk Kidding.. actually when I watch we got married now, it doesn’t have the same vibe as it did.. I mean probably the last that I liked were Jo Kwon and Ga In. Yonghwa and Seohyun almost did it for me, but sometimes they were just a bit too stiff.. Anyway.. about this song, this song is too sweet and I like the acoustic vibe of the song, paired with the rap part.

There are more live peformances, but I think 3 would be enough for now.. if I put them all I might not have any Clazziquai stuff to put anymore! kk and every now and then, when I miss them, I put them on my blog…

I wish they would produce more songs like this in the Korean music industry..

Paradise – Infinite (MV)

Wow! This group never stops to amaze me with their songs! I mean whoever gets to pick their songs should be commended because whatever they choose sounds different from all the other Kpop tunes I’ve heard over and over again.

This is Infinite‘s recent track called Paradise.

At first it sounded like Before the Dawn, but it was only the first few strings of the song. When you listen ti it, it’s different from all the common idol songs. I guess the reason why I’m drawn to it is because it has a little bit of the new wave sound with all the synthesizers and stuff. At least its not autotune! Another thing that I like about it is that it’s a slow song but it’s danceable. As usual I love how this group dances during their live performances. The only disappointment is that they do not have the usual dance break in their performance! Oh well I will forgive them this time because I really like the song. I haven’t even gotten over Be Mine and now this group gave me another good song.

For the video.. well I’m not much of a fan of it though because there was nothing new.. Same old concept like what most boybands have in their videos. Though I know most fans may say oh he is so handsome and stuff.. I think I couldn’t say that because I haven’t memorized them yet.. kk There are just too many boyband names to remember (but I do know who L and Sunggyu are.. kk)

Infinite keep all those good songs coming! I’m always anticipating for your fresh songs! kk 🙂

I’ll Protect You – JYJ Jaejoong (OST Protect the Boss)

I’ve been busy ever since I moved to another country. I’m kind of adjusting until now, but I guess I will be fine.. and I have my kdramas to accompany me.

A friend of mine has been bugging me to watch the drama Protect the Boss 보스를 지켜라. I have not really watched it because I was stuck on watching You’ve Fallen for Me and then Can’t Lose. I have to admit I wasn’t keen in watching Can’t Lose but I had to make an exception because of Choi Ji Woo. I know she’s not getting any younger, but to me she is one of the best Korean actresses. I loved her since I saw Honesty.

So while I’m here, and since I have some time to spare.. and because my curiosity got me, I decided to download Protect the Boss. I don’t really download dramas as I prefer watching them online. But I gave an exception to this one after seeing the firt episode. Yup that’s right, after I saw it I was hooked!  But before I do talk non stop about it, here is a song from the OST I’d like to share. It’s called I’ll Protect You by JYJ Jaejoong.

Ok I have to admit, I am not much of a fan for Jaejoong’s voice, but I absolutely love this song. And every time I hear it being played on the drama, I love it! This is maybe just like Jaejoong singing Insa (from A Millionaire’s First Love). This is just the right OST for the drama.

Like I said, I am really hooked!! I love every minute of Protect the Boss, though I’ve only seen about 6 episodes from the time of writing this. Sometimes I wish I can just stay home and do nothing but watch it until I reach the recent episodes, but I can’t do that.. sigh. Anyway.. why do I like this drama, it’s very light hearted and so far it’s fast paced! kk

I like the way Ji Sung acts as the immature boss who hides the fact that he has panic disorder.. Look at this!! And I think the elevator scenes where his dad beats him up are so hilarious!!

Jaejoong also looks good here, though well maybe he’s just not my type, but the Cassies who like him would fall for him and his character. I love how they fashioned him as the mysterious cousin who gets into childish fights with the immature boss.

And of course, what’s not to love about No Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee). I love love her character!!! I love that they made her a punk! kk A very beautiful punk! kk Actually I liked her in My Love (movie), she had such a bubbly character there. I think she is a very versatile actress…

I can’t really tell if this is a must see drama or not. I haven’t watched half of the released episodes yet. But I do say that I am enjoying every minute of it! To my friend its as the same level as Coffee Prince. And believe me, that friend likes that drama.. so I guess it’s worth seeing.

So I guess I’d better end here and continue watching the drama!

Get Out… Goodbye – JYJ (MV)

OMG I am late again for another JYJ track. Curses (sorry I don’t want to curse too much on this blog so I’ll do what Mojo Jojo says… curses!! kk)

Yes, I just saw this video yet again.. grrr.. I guess I am not updated with Kpop music anymore.. huhu.. oh why is my life so busy these days.. and I think I need to cut back on my drama watching.. really!

Anyway.. enough with the blabber, this is JYJ‘s video for Get Out… Goodbye.

I have to say its a cool track, except for the Engrish parts. I mean I like the boys, I really like them, they were the reasons for my being a Kpop addict — they started it all. But if they are going to sing English words they have to make it clear as possible. I understood some of them but some I can barely understand. What the heck happened to Yoochun’s english? Isn’t he the one who was good at it? Hmm.. but maybe he did not have too much practice. I think in this song the english is too heavily accented to the point that you can’t understand it. Sigh.. but at least its not as worse as Ayy Girl. Cassies don’t go biting off my head.. I am just saying for them to enunciate their english words clearly the next time 🙂

I like that this song are making them dance! Yahoo!! I mean a part from them being good with ballads, dancing is what makes this group one of the best. Its a good dance track and the beat is really a good one. I like how from a slow beat they transformed it into something you could dance to. You can dance without the disco feel to it — almost like an American rnb track. Though, in their album, I still think In Heaven is the best track. But this track is way better than Ayy Girl!!! kk 🙂

The video… hmm its a little too common for me. Just loved to see them dance.. especially Junsu. But I do like the part where they dance in suits and in black and white.

I do think that this album is way better than their first one as a group, both Get Out and In Heaven are just the right tracks for JYJ. I just wish they could promote on the variety shows..
