Couple – Sechskies

I wasn’t a fan of Kpop before. My world then was filled with Western boybands like *Nsync and Backstreet Boys. Thus, I never got to appreciate much of the first generation Kpop boybands.

So once when I asked my Korean friend if she new H.O.T she said she did… but then she added that she preferred Sechskies 젝스키스. When I heard the name, I was like… who are they, and she introduced me to this song called Couple (커플).

So who are these guys??

Sechskies was the rival group of H.O.T during the time boybands first became a hit in Korea. If you watch 2 Days 1 Night and you’re familiar with Eun Jiwon, he was originally a member of that group. If you also listen to a lot of Kpop and familiar with a group called J-Walk (who sang Shout Out Love and My Love), both members also were from that group. They were popular from 1997 however they disbanded sometime in 2000.

The song Couple is one of their popular songs and sometimes it still is sang on some shows. If I remember correctly, when Nichkhun was first featured on We Got Married, on the bus he rode, some singers sang this song in acapella.

In the absence of a nice romanization on the internet, I went ahead and did the romanization. For someone who wants to sing a korean song but doesn’t speak or read the language this is important to us. And since sharing is caring so I am putting it up on my blog.. however if you copy it, please make sure to give credit where it’s due ^_^.
